Gabriel the Archangel is the announcer, par excellence, of divine revelations. His name means “Emissary of the Lord” or “God is my protector” or even “Man of God”.
Gabriel, who knew the deepest mysteries of God, was the one who announced to Mary that she was full of grace and chosen to be the Mother of the Savior.
Through the words of the Archangel, Our Mother and Lady began to understand the action of the Holy Spirit within her and, thus, began to prepare for her mission.
It was also thanks to the angelic greeting that we have today one of the most widespread and beloved prayers in Catholicism, the Hail Mary: “Rejoice, full of grace! The Lord is with you” (Lk 1:28).
