Description
Description
Known as the patron saint of urgent and just causes. He was a Roman commander who converted to Christianity and, according to tradition, faced temptations to postpone his conversion. For this reason, he is symbolized with a raven that says “cras” (Latin for “tomorrow”), while he steps on the bird and responds “hodie” (“today”), indicating his immediate decision to follow Christ.
Saint Expedite is usually depicted as a young soldier, holding a cross with the word “hodie” on it. His liturgical feast day is celebrated on April 19, and his devotion is popular among those who need quick solutions to urgent problems.
