In 1717, three Brazilian fishermen found an incomplete image of Our Lady of Conception in the Paraíba do Sul River, in São Paulo. This discovery marked the beginning of a profound popular devotion, which culminated in the proclamation of Our Lady of Aparecida as the patron saint of Brazil.
