Our Lady of Graces
Our Lady gave Catherine Labouré a revealing vision. Let us look at the account given by Catherine herself, who later became a saint: "...a Lady of medium height, with a very beautiful and lovely face... She was standing, wearing a silk dress, the color of dawn white. Her head was covered with a blue veil that reached down to her feet... Her hands were stretched out towards the ground, filled with rings covered with precious stones. The Blessed Virgin said to me: 'Behold the symbol of the Graces that I pour out on all those who ask for them the most...' Then, around Our Lady, an oval frame was formed, on which were written, in letters of gold, these words: 'O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee'. After this, the frame that I was looking at turned over, and I saw on its reverse: the letter M, with a cross at the top, with a line at the base. Below: the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. That of Jesus, surrounded by a crown of thorns and burning in flames, and that of Mary also in flames and pierced by a sword, surrounded by twelve stars. At the same time, I distinctly heard the voice of Our Lady, telling me: 'Order, order a medal to be struck according to this model. The people who brought it, with devotion, will receive many graces.'
