The image of a saint has a profound meaning. When we look at it, the image reminds us that the person represented there is a saint, who lived according to God’s will, and is therefore a “model of life” for everyone. The image also reminds us that the person is in Heaven, that is, in full communion with the Lord; he or she enjoys the so-called “beatific vision of God” and intercedes for us without ceasing, as one of the Eucharistic prayers of the Mass states.
Saint Jerome said: "If, here on Earth, the saints in life prayed and worked so much for us, how much more will they do in Heaven, before God. Saint Therese of the Child Jesus said that she "would spend Heaven on Earth", that is, interceding for people.
