This book is part of a collection of biographies of great saints, whose distinguishing feature is their literary quality: the texts are especially aimed at young readers and highlight the adventures and challenges experienced by those who, despite having been ordinary people, were recognized by the Catholic Church for their virtues or heroic acts and, above all, for their deep love for God and their neighbor. These are fascinating narratives that will certainly inspire young readers.
This volume tells the story of Saint Clare of Assisi - a young noblewoman, rich and very beautiful - who lived in Assisi, Italy, in the 13th century. Like so many young women of that time, she could have been just a good wife and led a quiet life, if she had not had within her a force that drove her to do something different for her fellow men and that brought her true happiness and fulfillment.
Deeply religious, thanks to the education she received from her mother, Clare was inspired by Francis' enthusiasm and, like him, abandoned her family, luxury and comforts to live in extreme poverty, but fully in accordance with her convictions and the Gospel. The difficulties were innumerable, but her love and faith encouraged her and helped her overcome all adversities. Due to her recognized virtues, she was quickly canonized and is today the patron saint of television.
