The Jerusalem Bible presents a text with many revisions and new textual options. Certain books (Micah, Ecclesiasticus, e.g.) have been substantially remodeled. In the Old Testament, there is a considerable return to the Hebrew text, setting aside previously preferred versions. Certain texts of the New Testament also feature an entirely new translation (cf. e.g. Philippians 2:6-11). As a consequence of the new translation options for the text, the notes have also been modified, expanded, or replaced. The volume of notes has increased considerably. The incorporation of new research and studies subsequent to the 1973 French edition is visible. The introductions present new options that are also reflected in the notes. This is verified mainly in the view of the formation of the Pentateuch. The Gospel of John, e.g., shows a total hermeneutical turn, which can be seen both in the introduction and in the notes. Several books and literary collections have received new introductions, completely different from the previous ones.
