Devotional Book of Tears

Devotion to the tears of Our Lady is a journey through the sufferings and pains of Jesus and Mary. The core of devotion to Our Lady of Tears is what she herself expressed at the wedding feast of Cana: “Do whatever he tells you” (Jn 2:5) .

She points to Christ, her divine Son. Her tears are precious because they were shed by her Son, the God-Man, our Savior. The Marian title of “Our Lady of Tears” was born from the mystical experiences, duly approved by the Church, of a nun named Amália de Jesus Flagellado, of the Institute of the Missionaries of Jesus Crucified.
